Real apologized to the Elche player whom they confused with Jota`s deceased brother. Real published a video in which he paid tribute to famous people who died in 2025, but made a serious mistake.
The Madrid video features, among others, former Liverpool and Portugal footballer Diogo Jota. On July 3, he and his brother Andre Teixeira da Silva, who played for Penafiel of the Portuguese second division, died in a traffic accident in Spain.
However, by mistake, the video included an image of Portuguese striker Andre Silva, who now plays for Elche, together with Jota`s brother.
Real Madrid apologizes to Elche and its player Andre Silva for mistakenly including his image in the obituary published in the official video, instead of the image of Andre Silva, brother of Liverpool player Diogo Jota. "We regret this incident, " Real said in a statement.
Today, Los Blancos will face Elche in the 13th round of La Liga. Sports` will conduct an online text broadcast of the game, starting at 23:00 Moscow time.
